If you’re a high school senior, I encourage you to apply for The Gates Scholarship (due Sept. 15), a full-ride opportunity covering all college-related expenses. This is a life-changing chance, and if you meet the eligibility criteria, you should apply—don’t count yourself out before giving it a shot!
Basic Eligibility:
High school senior
From one of the following ethnicities: African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian & Pacific Islander American, or Hispanic American
Pell-eligible (low-income status)
A U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident
In good academic standing with a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale
Planning to enroll full-time in a four-year degree program at a U.S. accredited, not-for-profit, private, or public college/university
*Note: For American Indian/Alaska Native applicants, proof of tribal enrollment is required.
The Ideal Candidate:
Has an outstanding academic record (in the top 10% of their graduating class)
Demonstrates leadership ability through community service, extracurriculars, or other activities
Possesses personal solid success skills such as emotional maturity, perseverance, and motivation
The Gates Scholarship is for students with strong academic performance, leadership abilities, and personal success skills, such as perseverance and motivation.
