CONNECTICUT SCHOLARSHIPS

Welcome to the latest installment of our "Scholarships A to Z" series! This week, we're focusing on Connecticut, highlighting a variety of state and local scholarships available to high school and college students in 2025. Whether you're a Connecticut resident or planning to study in the state, these opportunities can help alleviate the financial burden of higher education.
1. Waterbury Promise Scholarship
The Waterbury Promise program offers scholarships to graduates of Waterbury public and private high schools attending in-state colleges or universities. Scholarships have increased from $1,250 to $5,000 per student annually, providing up to $20,000 over four years. The program also offers college preparation support for high school students. Legislators are seeking $1.5 million in state funding to expand this initiative.
2. Kevin M. Eidt Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in memory of Kevin M. Eidt, this fund awards scholarships to Norwalk High School seniors. In 2025, the fund will distribute $187,000 across 17 scholarships, including a $130,000 award for a student demonstrating academic excellence, leadership, and community service. A new $2,000 scholarship is also available for seniors involved in community service and athletics.
3. Hartford Foundation for Public Giving Scholarships
The Hartford Foundation offers over 80 unique scholarship funds for students pursuing various educational paths, including four-year universities, community colleges, vocational/technical schools, and graduate programs. Applicants can complete a single pre-application to be considered for multiple scholarships.
4. Connecticut Building Congress Scholarships
The Connecticut Building Congress Scholarship Fund provides scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $4,000 to high school seniors entering college-level programs in architecture, construction-related engineering, construction management, surveying, planning, or other construction-related fields. The application deadline is March 1, 2025.
5. ARTC Glenn Moon Scholarship
The Association of Retired Teachers of Connecticut (ARTC) offers the Glenn Moon Scholarship, awarding $2,000 to Connecticut high school seniors pursuing teaching degrees. Applicants must submit transcripts and essays by the March 31, 2025 deadline.
6. CHESLA Scholarship Program
The Connecticut Higher Education Supplemental Loan Authority (CHESLA) offers scholarships for undergraduate students and those pursuing certificates in healthcare, manufacturing, or Connecticut ARC teaching programs. These scholarships aim to support students in high-demand fields within the state.
7. Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut Scholarships
Serving a 42-town region, the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut manages over 130 scholarships for local students. These awards support various fields of study and are designed to assist students with diverse backgrounds and academic interests.
8. Connecticut Broadcasters Association Scholarship
This scholarship is available to Connecticut residents pursuing broadcasting-related credentials. It supports students aiming for careers in radio, television, and digital media.
9. American Savings Foundation Scholarship Program
As one of the largest independent college scholarship programs in Connecticut, the American Savings Foundation provides significant financial support to students based on academic merit and financial need. The foundation's scholarships are designed to assist students in achieving their educational goals.
10. Spectrum Scholars Program
Spectrum offers scholarships of $20,000 each to 15 college juniors for the upcoming academic year. Recipients also participate in a two-year professional development program, including a paid 10-week internship. Applications are open until April 4, 2025, with winners announced in the summer.
